SUP LESSON FAQ
Paddlestroke SUP has been operating since 2010 as the first and leading stand up paddle boarding (SUP) school in the Maryland, DC and Virginia areas. We put through thousands of paddlers each season between May and September and have first timers up and paddling within minutes of hitting the water.
Learning how to stand up paddleboard is one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever undertake and we are excited to provide you with expert instruction and guidance. Paddlestroke SUP programs are designed so we can continue your development through our SUP 1-2-3 series and advanced classes ensuring continued learning. The following is some information that you will find helpful before your first lesson and don't hestiate to contact us with your questions at paddlestrokesup@gmail.com or call Greg Miller directly on (301) 442-6864
How much does it cost to paddle with Paddlestroke SUP?
- The cost for our SUP lessons which lasts 2 hours is $49 per person.
Are there age limits?
Children MUST BE minimum 12 years old. Here are a few things to consider before signing up your little one:
- THEY MUST be comfortable falling in the water with a proper fitting life jacket on.
- WE PREFER that you bring their own life jacket if you have one.
We’ll supply the stand up paddleboard, paddle, and safety equipment. However, there are a few things that you’ll want to make sure you bring:
• Water
• Snack
• Sun hat
• Sunblock (SPF 30 or above)
• Water shoes or sport sandals
• A completed waiver form (download here)
• Bug spray (optional)
• Towel and dry clothes
In addition, if you wear glasses or have anything else that could fall in the water, it’s a good idea to make sure you have a way to keep them on you. If there’s anything else that you’ll need, your instructor will let you know before your scheduled lesson!
What Should I Bring To my Lesson?
Will Standing Up Be Hard?
Everyone will learn to stand up and paddle at their own rate, but our group lessons are highly accommodating to all abilities. Just remember to be patient and have fun!
